Most of us really enjoy looking at dolphins. We love to watch their interaction, performing for us while exhibiting their intelligence and energy; we admire their smiling faces. What most of us don’t know is the horrid and heartbreaking story that hides behind every smile.
Our goal is to reach out to all the people in the Thai community to help us end the keeping of captive dolphins in Thailand.
Catching dolphin in Thai waters is ILLEGAL, and any “rescued” dolphin MUST be released back to the wild.
Definitions from the “New Oxford American Dictionary”
- Rescue – (v.) save from a dangerous or distressing situation.
- Capture – (v.) take into one’s possession or control be force.
Taking a dolphin from the wild to jump through hoops is NOT education nor is it conservation. Dolphins do not do well in a tank as the stress it causes lowers their life expectancy. This forced life causes distress!
Therefore… A rescued dolphin that is never released back is a capture.
